Iloilo, Beyond the Usual
Seven Waterfront Hospitality Group destinations across Iloilo City — morning bakes, shared hotpot, riverside cocktails and a garden event space — mapped into five easy days.
Iloilo has always fed people well. What has changed is the shape of the day — the city now rewards visitors who move through it in chapters rather than in a single sprint of pancit molo and batchoy. Whether you are home after years away, a local who has run out of usual spots, or a planner scouting a venue, here is how the Waterfront trail reads.
Mornings, unhurried
Start in Jaro. M&C Bakehouse on Lopez Jaena Street handles the first hour of the day — sourdough, artisan breads and take-home treats that double neatly as pasalubong, which is the real reason most balikbayan families end up buying twice. Carry the coffee habit into Mandurriao, where Seventy N Coffee + Drinkery at the Greenfield Complex keeps working long past breakfast: comfort food at noon, prime steaks and crafted cocktails when the light goes.
Tables built for a crowd
Ilonggo hospitality is plural, and two rooms are designed around that. In Molo, Nabe Unlimited Japanese Hotpot at North Grove puts one simmering pot in the middle of the table and lets a reunion sort itself out. In Jaro, Spice Social at North Bloc does modern Thai as shared plates — bold, loud, meant to be passed around. Both are the answer to the question every returning family asks: where can twelve of us actually sit together?

After dark by the river
The riverside stretch at One Riverside Complex on Gen. Luna Street is the city’s clearest evening. Waterfront Seafood & Cocktails takes the early part — fresh seafood, premium meats, cocktails with the Iloilo River just beyond the glass. When the table wants to keep going, Next Door Private Room & Lounge is exactly what its name promises: drinks, music and enclosed spaces for groups who would rather not shout.
Occasions that deserve something personal
Waterfront Garden closes the trail. It is a flexible garden and event space on the same riverside block — weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, corporate programmes — and it is the reason planners keep the complex on their shortlist: catering, lounge and garden all sit within walking distance of one another. Attend a public event to see it lit, or book a viewing while you are in town.
